Location: IOL Plant Site
Keep It Running. Prevent the Chaos. Go Home on Time.
Refrigeration isn’t about the hero moment — it’s about making sure things don’t break in the first place.
At Gateway Mechanical, we’re looking for a safety and leadership centric Journeyman Refrigeration Technician who takes pride in preventative maintenance, spotting issues early, and keeping critical systems running without disruption.
Monday to Friday schedule
No on-call
Dedicated industrial plant site
If you like consistency, ownership, and being the reason operations run smoothly — this is your role.
-
Around since 1968
-
Western Canada’s largest HVAC & Refrigeration provider
-
Strong technical support behind every site
Translation: You’re not on your own — but you’ll have the autonomy to own your work.
This isn’t service calls all over the map.
For the mot part, this is planned, structured maintenance work at a single industrial facility where reliability matters every single day.
You’ll be the person who:
-
Keeps systems optimized
-
Prevents failures before they happen
-
Ensures the plant runs safely and efficiently
-
Is a natural born leader with safety top of mind
-
Perform preventative maintenance on industrial refrigeration & HVACR systems
-
Inspect, test, and fine-tune equipment to avoid breakdowns
-
Identify wear, risks, and inefficiencies before they become problems
-
Troubleshoot issues — with a focus on root cause, not quick fixes
-
Maintain detailed service records and maintenance logs
-
Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
-
Work closely with plant operations to support continuous uptime
-
✅ No on-call — your evenings and weekends are yours
-
✅ Predictable Monday–Friday schedule
-
✅ Maintenance-first focus — less firefighting, more control
-
✅ Single-site ownership — know your systems inside and out
You:
-
Believe the best breakdown is the one that never happens
-
Notice small issues before they turn into big ones
-
Stay organized and thorough with your work
-
Take pride in clean, consistent maintenance practices
-
Communicate clearly with operations and team members
-
Take safety seriously — especially in an industrial environment
✅ Journeyman Refrigeration Certification
✅ 2+ years experience (industrial or maintenance-focused preferred)
✅ Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting skills
✅ Valid Class 5 license + good driving record
✅ Ability to work independently on-site
Bonus if you have:
-
Industrial or ammonia refrigeration experience
-
Gas ticket
-
Safety certs (First Aid, WHMIS, CSTS, etc.)
-
Fall Protection, AWP, H2S
Because:
-
You get stability and structure
-
You’ll own your maintenance program and systems
-
You’ll work with experienced, knowledgeable teams
-
You’ll have support when needed — without being micromanaged
-
And you’ll have a role that fits a balanced lifestyle
If you:
-
Prefer prevention over reaction
-
Take pride in keeping systems running smoothly
-
Want steady hours with no on-call
-
And like being the person everyone relies on to keep things working…
You should probably apply.
