Position Overview
Eagle’s Nest Catering is looking for a reliable and experienced Banquet Cook to join our catering team. The Banquet Cook will assist with preparing high-quality meals for corporate events, weddings, banquets, buffets, and special events. This role requires strong food-preparation skills, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, and a commitment to upholding Eagle’s Nest Catering’s standards for quality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare food items according to menus, recipes, portion standards, and event requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of hot and cold menu items for buffets, boxed lunches, and corporate catering orders.
- Cook proteins, starches, vegetables, soups, sauces, salads, and other menu items as required.
- Follow prep lists, production sheets, and event timelines to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Portion, package, label, and organize food for delivery or service.
- Assist with setting up food for transport, buffet service, or onsite finishing when required.
- Maintain consistent food quality, taste, temperature, and presentation.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure all items are stored, cooled, reheated, and transported safely.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store tools, equipment, and kitchen supplies.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing food products and supplies.
- Communicate with the kitchen team, event staff, and management regarding order details, shortages, timing, or concerns.
- Support other kitchen duties as needed to ensure smooth daily operations and successful events.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience in catering, banquet, restaurant, hotel, or commercial kitchen environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of basic cooking methods, food preparation, knife skills, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and production instructions accurately.
- Food Safety certification is preferred or must be obtained.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as required.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a busy kitchen environment.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event bookings.
- Class 5 Drivers License is required. You must be able to drive the company van and complete deliveries.
Preferred Skills
- Banquet or catering experience.
- Experience preparing food in large quantities.
- Knowledge of buffet service, catering packaging, and food transport standards.
- Ability to assist with onsite event food service when needed.
Working Conditions
This position includes working in a commercial kitchen, assisting with event preparation, packing catering orders, and occasionally working at offsite events. Hours may vary depending on event schedules and business needs.
