Our client is a highly regarded and continually growing research-based group in Prince Edward Island. As they advance continued growth they are seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to join the senior leadership team.
This role supports executive decision-making, strengthens organizational financial capacity, and ensures long-term sustainability as the organization expands in complexity and scale. The successful candidate will bring strong financial leadership, analytical capability, and operational insight, with a particular focus on supporting growth, commercialization, and pricing strategy for research services.
Salary: $120,000+ per year
Key Responsibilities of the Job:

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and annual financial planning processes

Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic and operational decision-making

Develop financial models, scenario analysis, and project costing

Oversee cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and treasury management

Manage banking relationships and support financing strategies and investor reporting

Present financial results and insights to the Board of Directors

Develop and maintain pricing models

Support proposal development with financial analysis and revenue projections

Oversee procurement and inventory management

Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and controls

Lead audit processes and liaise with external auditors

Ensure compliance with tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements

Optimize ERP and financial systems and improve financial reporting tools
Experience & Attributes for Success:
-
CPA designation with minimum 5 years post-designation experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
-
5+ years of progressive finance leadership experience

Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting standards, audit, and tax compliance
-
Experience with pricing models in contract services, research, manufacturing, or project-based environments
-
Experience in regulated, grant-funded, or audit-intensive environments considered an asset

Strong financial modelling and analytical skills with ability to communicate insights clearly

Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage complexity and competing priorities

Strong leadership and collaboration skills

Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
