Responsibilities include:
- Lead a team of technicians to complete projects in a safe and efficient manner;
- Prepare steel and other substrates in accordance with SSPC standards;
- Apply coatings as per manufacturer’s specifications;
- Perform quality assurance tasks;
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures;
- Perform work in a professional manner;

- Follow and enforce all site specific HSE plans, JSA’s and safe work procedures;
- Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to PACL and client safety requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas to support operational efficiency and hazard control.
- Verify proper use of all sandblast and paint personal protective equipment.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and hazard assessments.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of abrasives, coatings, solvents, and waste.
- Review detailed work plans in alignment with client’s workface planning requirements.
- Assign tasks to maintain overall execution plans, schedules and quality targets.
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate onsite coatings team to ensure safe and efficient completion of daily tasks.
- Conduct inspections of substrates and coatings to verify compliance with quality standards; identify and resolve deficiencies.
- Ensure surface preparation meets SSPC / AMPP standards.
- Ensure crew competency and proper training has been provided.
- Ability to train and mentor workers on techniques and procedures.
- Ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of all sandblast and paint equipment.
- Verify completion of daily preventative maintenance and coordinate equipment repairs.
- Ensure compliance with coating manufacturer specifications.
- Confirm correct storage of coatings and materials.
- Complete daily field reports.
- Concise communication with both site superintendents and coatings manager. Relaying progress, delays, and issues to project management.
- Document non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Participate in planning meetings and inspections.
- Support audits and client walk-downs.
- Oversee coatings material inventory, including tracking, forecasting, and coordinating material orders to ensure adequate supply, minimize waste, and support efficient field execution.
- Minimize downtime due to weather or equipment issues.
- Be a positive representative on PACL while travelling or on site.
Qualifications:
· Sandblast and coatings experience preferred.
· Excellent communication, problem solving and documentation abilities.
· First Aid Certification.
· Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed.
· NACE 1 or 2 certification is a requirement
· Formal leadership training is preferred.
FIFO This position is located at a remote mine site in Northern Saskatchewan. The shift is a 2-weeks on, 2-weeks off rotation, 11-hour workdays with overtime after 8 hours and on weekends.
The successful candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and complete the required training prior to going to site. It is the responsibility of the candidate to get themselves to one of our fly-out points.
