The Team
The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families and communities. The Maples target population consists of youth in British Columbia with significant psychiatric and/or behavioural and/or emotional difficulties, ages 12 to 17; as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or Unfit to Stand Trial under the Criminal Code of Canada & Youth Criminal Justice Act. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging youth through a closer to home focus.
The Role
Under the direction of a Shift Supervisor or Program Coordinator, the Nurse 4A performs vital work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, providing direct, comprehensive nursing care to clients at The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre. This position impacts the lives of youth, families, and communities by offering on-site, community, outreach, and ancillary mental health services. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year or more of work experience in the field of adolescent psychiatry.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience working with adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
There are three (3) If and As When needed temporary opportunities until September 1, 2027. These positions may be extended or become permanent.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
