Transportation Safety & Compliance Officer (U.S. DOT/FMCSA Regulations)
Please Note: This is a transportation safety and regulatory compliance position within the trucking industry. Applicants must have hands-on experience with U.S. trucking regulations and fleet compliance.
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Safety & Compliance Officer based in Canada to manage and oversee compliance with U.S. DOT and FMCSA regulations for our cross-border trucking operations. The successful candidate will have practical experience in transportation compliance, driver qualification management, fleet safety, and cross-border regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure ongoing compliance with U.S. DOT, FMCSA, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Administer IFTA reporting and maintain accurate fuel tax records.
- Manage driver qualification (DQ) files and ensure compliance with FMCSA requirements.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) records.
- Administer the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse program and related testing requirements.
- Coordinate cross-border documentation and customs security programs, including CTPAT and PIP.
- Monitor CSA scores and implement corrective actions to improve safety performance.
- Conduct transportation compliance audits and identify areas requiring corrective action.
- Develop and deliver compliance and regulatory training for drivers and fleet personnel.
- Maintain accurate safety and compliance records and prepare for regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Minimum 1 year of direct experience in transportation safety, fleet compliance, or trucking regulatory compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- FMCSA regulations
- U.S. DOT compliance
- IFTA
- CSA
- Driver Qualification Files
- Hours of Service (HOS)
- Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
- FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
- CTPAT and PIP
- Experience with cross-border trucking operations between Canada and the United States.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation compliance software.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
