We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Halal Butcher to join our team. Our store serves a vibrant Middle Eastern and Muslim community in Windsor, and we pride ourselves on providing fresh, authentic, and properly prepared Halal meats (beef, lamb, goat, chicken, etc.) that meet our customers’ cultural and religious expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expert butchering, cutting, trimming, deboning, and portioning of Halal meats according to traditional Middle Eastern styles and customer preferences.
- Specialty meat work including grinding, marinating, preparing kebabs, sausages, shawarma, value-added products, and other custom specialty items popular with our clientele.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in the butcher area.
- Interacting with customers — providing recommendations, custom cuts, and excellent service.
- Receiving, inspecting, and properly storing meat deliveries.
- Keeping the display cases clean, organized, and attractively stocked.
- Supporting general store operations as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a professional butcher with strong expertise in Halal meat preparation.
- Significant experience in specialty meat work and Middle Eastern cutting styles.
- Deep knowledge of popular Middle Eastern meat preparations and customer requests.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional attitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends and some evenings.
- Food Handler’s certification (or willingness to obtain one) is a plus.
