Giant Promotions runs LED video wall systems for concerts, festivals, corporate events, and permanent commercial installs across Atlantic Canada. We're based in Halifax and we're looking for someone who knows their way around LED display tech to join the team full-time.
This is a field role. You'll be on-site at venues and client locations — setting up, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing our LED systems. You'll also drive company trucks and trailers to move equipment between jobs.
Work is on-site only. No remote option.
What you'll be doing:
Day-to-day tasks include inspecting and testing electronic equipment, diagnosing faults, repairing or replacing parts, calibrating systems, completing work orders, reading blueprints, and providing on-site customer service. You'll also supervise junior techs as needed.
On the LED side specifically:
- Install and commission large-format LED video walls (indoor P2.6–P4.8, outdoor P4.8–P6.2) at concerts, festivals, and corporate events
- Mount panels on ground-support and truss systems, run power and data cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/fiber)
- Use NovaStar LCT to configure resolution mapping, brightness, color temperature, and gamma curves
- Set up NovaStar Mars 300/600 sending cards and MRV328/MRV336 receiving cards for multi-panel layouts
- Operate NovaStar VMP for multi-screen management and scheduling
- Manage Viplex for cloud-based display control and firmware updates
- Do pixel-level brightness and color calibration — uniformity correction, dead-pixel detection, per-module calibration
- Diagnose and fix faults in modules, PSUs (Meanwell/G-Energy), HUB boards, flat cables, and signal gear
- Run preventive maintenance: cleaning, thermal compound, firmware updates, connector checks
For equipment transport:
- Drive straight trucks up to 14,000 kg GVWR
- Tow trailers up to 4,500 kg
- Do pre-trip inspections per Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act
- Load/unload LED flight cases properly
You'll also keep detailed logs, calibration records, and train newer techs on the basics.
What we need:
- College/CEGEP education
- 2 years to less than 3 years of hands-on experience with electronic equipment service
- First Aid Certificate (asset)
- Clean driving abstract — valid driver's licence required
- Criminal record check required
- Comfortable with: MS Office, Excel, Windows, networking (wired and wireless), NovaStar NovaLCT
Experience with NovaStar LCT, Viplex, or pixel-level LED calibration is a strong asset
Physical requirements:
You'll be lifting up to 45 kg, bending, kneeling, working in fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding conditions. Tight deadlines are normal in live events.
You'll need: steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves (your own).
The details:
- $38.00/hour
- 40 hours/week, full-time permanent
- Overtime at 1.5x after 48 hours
- 4% vacation pay
- Company events
