S.E.E.D.S. Childcare is looking for a fulltime cook at one of our childcare centers.
We are looking for someone that
- Enjoys cooking for large groups of people
- Has excellent time management
- Can work independently once they have learned the routine
- Is open to learning the child care side of things from an experienced trainer
- Can think on the spot to make adjustments to a menu if something goes amiss
- Has a reliable vehicle and can pick up groceries
- Likes to be creative with their planned meals
- Enjoys baking
- Has an open mindset
You will be responsible for
- Following and changing menus that are outlined by the Canada's Food Guide
- Following children's dietary restrictions
- Cooking and setting up 2 snacks and a lunch each day for approximately 50 children that attend the full day program and 2 snacks for approximately 30 Before and After School children.
- Weekly baking of muffins/loaves/scones/etc
- Preparing snacks for off site school age programs
- Planning, ordering, picking up/purchasing groceries on a weekly basis
- Maintaining the kitchen in a hygienic, safe and presentable condition that adheres to the Department of Health Regulations.
- There may be times that you step into a classroom to cover a break, if needed but you will be spending most of your time in the kitchen.
Job requirements are:
- Food Handler's certificate
- Cooking in a childcare setting experience
- Valid driver's license and vehicle for grocery shopping
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work on a budget while shopping and ordering groceries
- Understanding of Canada's Food Guide
- Be flexible in supporting dietary restrictions
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Providing proof of the mandatory immunizations for a childcare setting
