Role and Objectives:
The Carpenter Helper supports Kalesnikoff’s Modular operations by assisting with a wide range of construction tasks across our Modular team. This role works closely with the carpenters to complete framing, finishing carpentry, cabinet installation, and other hands‑on building activities required to deliver high‑quality modular components. The Carpenter Helper contributes to a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment while helping ensure each project meets Kalesnikoff’s standards for craftsmanship and precision.
Responsibilities:
Fabrication & Construction Support:
- Assist with the layout, fabrication, and assembly of structural wood components under supervision.
- Support rigging, lifting, and positioning of CLT panels using cranes, forklifts, and approved rigging equipment as directed.
- Assist Carpenters with cutting, fastening, and assembly tasks using hand and power tools such as drills, saws, and routers.
- Support installation of building materials including insulation, membranes, windows, and doors.
- Assist with basic framing and modular assembly tasks as trained.
- Operate and care for carpentry tools, equipment, and workstations under guidance.
- Handle, stage, and transport materials and components to support efficient production flow.
Quality, Safety & Documentation:
- Follow all Kalesnikoff health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized, and prepared work areas to support safe and efficient operations.
- Follow drawings, work instructions, and specifications and report quality concerns to Carpenters or Supervisors.
- Participate in quality control processes by identifying defects or inconsistencies and reporting them promptly.
- Complete basic daily task logs or documentation as required.
- Assist with the safe setup and removal of scaffolding, platforms, or temporary access structures as directed.
Teamwork & Development:
- Receive and follow direction from Carpenters, Leads, and Supervisors in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Support team members and other trades as required, within scope of training and ability.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and progress within the trade.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a production environment.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Coursework or training in carpentry, cabinetry, or fine woodworking is considered an asset.
Experience
- Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or production environments is considered an asset but not required.
- Experience using basic hand tools, power tools, or woodworking equipment is an required
- On-the-job training will be provided, including safety procedures, equipment use, and quality expectations.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Willingness to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, standing, and repetitive tasks.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in carpentry or construction.
- Ability to read and follow shop drawings, work instructions, and specifications with guidance.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing, panelized, and modular construction environments.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and material handling.
- Exposure to dust, noise, insulation materials, and heavy equipment.
- Shift work or overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Compensation Package:
- Wage: $28.75-$33.30 per hour
- Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday, 5:30am – 4:00pm
- Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Friday - Sunday, 5:30am - 6:00pm
