As a Production Supervisor you will play a key role in contributing to the continued success of One Degree Organics. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic production work environment and will have the opportunity to learn new skills and work in a team setting. In this role, you are responsible for completing the duties listed below as well as other duties as assigned by your manager or their designate.
Important: Although the position is assigned to a specific shift, employees may be required to work different hours from time to time to support operational and business needs.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Administration, Safety, Food Safety, People & Culture (20%)-
Daily Shift Huddles
-
Investigates and addresses employee conflicts and relationship issues as they arise

Leads and documents investigations into workplace injuries or near-misses as required

Prepares and submits daily shift reports and summaries; reviews and addresses emails as needed
-
Communicates corporate updates and announcements to the team as needed
- Ensures accurate and timely approval of team members' worked hours, with diligent follow-up and appropriate disciplinary measures for absenteeism and call-offs
Line Operations (80%)
Line operations focused and result-oriented-
Closely follows and monitors line operations to ensure efficiency and waste key performance indicators meet or exceed set targets. Launches investigations and collaborates with lead hands to implement corrective actions

Hourly audits of line performances to achieve standards and reviews/updates current operational standards across all production areas, ensures complete compliance and consistency among lead hands and team members

Key decision maker for off hour downtime decisions

Responsible to enforce safety standards

Depending on the situation, makes proper escalations and recommendations to the Production Manager

Monitors and ensures operator adherence to all process specifications
-
The supervisor is fully responsible for the shift performance
Departmental collaboration-
Acts as a key and instrumental member in collaboration between production, warehouse, quality, safety, and maintenance departments

Provides adequate leadership in problem-solving

Offers valuable recommendations to reporting and senior managers
Improve and enhance food quality-
Understands quality standards thoroughly and provides coaching and training to lead hands and team members on these standards

Coordinates with Production, R&D, QC/QA, and Maintenance departments when quality deviations are discovered beyond controllable limits. Escalates issues to the Production Manager following guidelines

Assists in waste variance analysis, provides feedback and suggestions for countermeasures
Training and succession planning-
Provides training to lead hands and operators on technical knowledge

Trains lead hands and operators on equipment operations and basic troubleshooting as needed

Assists in establishing and maintaining the skill matrix program for lead hands and line operators

Works with lead hands to maintain or improve performance based on their skill matrix assessment
-
Identifies potential new lead hands and develops appropriate training and arrangement plans accordingly
