JOB POSTING –MARINE ELECTRICIAN
M.V. Osprey Ltd. is a leader in the Canadian offshore cold-water shrimp fishery. It’s base of operations is located in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
We have an immediate opening for a Marine Electrician onboard the factory freezer vessel, Northern Osprey III. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the successful applicant is an eager and innovative professional who brings the technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as well as the experience required for safe and efficient management and operation of the vessel’s electrical equipment.
Qualifications:
· Marine Electrical Certification with minimum 5 years-experience
· Knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
· Proficiency in writing and verbal communications
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other essential software
· Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
. Familiar with computerized maintenance programs
· MED, Seafarers medical
· Must be willing to learn engineering duties and assist in jobs outside of the electrical scope
· Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
· Team player
· Experience on a factory freezer trawler would be a valuable asset
Duties:
· Install, maintain, modify and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment
· Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears
· Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufactures installation manuals to complete assigned projects
· Survey electrical systems, circuits and plans
· Complete work orders and record materials utilized on the job
· Be present during maintenance downtime and refits
· All other duties as required for Marine Electrician
