MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in a health related field, preferably Nursing, is required.
- Completion of a graduate degree in a health related field preferably in Nursing, is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Three years of directly related experience is required.
- Experience with all phases of carrying out a research project; both qualitative and quantitative health or social science research is required.
- Strong writing skills and experience with drafting technical reports, brief non-technical reports for communities, academic publications and presentations, and other written documents is required.
- Experience in conducting quantitative or qualitative research in social services or health care environments is required.
- Experience using statistical and other computer software related to word processing for data collection or organization is required.
- Familiarity with confidentiality and security issues related to research is required.
- Experience using computer software related to word processing and data management (e.g., Microsoft Office, SPSS, Reference Management System - Mendeley) is required.
- Experience with literature searches and retrieval is required.
- Experience with manuscript and grant writing is required.
- Experience with knowledge translation science is an asset.
- Research experience as demonstrated by thesis completion and/or publications is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Research Project Administrative Work:
- Ensures smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities and provides updates and progress reports to members of the research team and stakeholders.
- Assigns and directs work of research support staff, ensuring deadlines are met and research protocol and regulatory requirements of the U of M and funding agencies are followed.
Conducting Research:
- Responsible for recruitment of participants and obtaining consent from them.
- Responsible for data collection, including booking appointments with participants. Collect data for research projects (includes, but not limited to, conducting open-ended individual interviews, focus group interviews, participant observation, administering questionnaires, and collecting additional information from selected records).
- Develop research materials, including assent and informed consent forms, questionnaires, ethics applications.
- Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, preparing periodic and ad hoc reports as required by investigators, administrators and funding agencies.
- Contributes, as needed, to research analysis, including interpretation and preparation of research reports, writing for publication, preparation of abstracts and presentations, as well as assisting with writing of grant proposals; may include literature searching, using a reference management system (i.e., Mendeley, Zotero), and reviewing.
- Organizes and participates in meetings (e.g., research team, project liaison committee, and dissemination committee meetings), including associated documents.
- Meets regularly with PI to discuss study progress, issues and status, and quality
- Prepares and processes all forms and accounts related to the grant, including monitoring, expenditures.
- Prepares documents for ethical review and assists with preparation of reports and publications and develops materials, i.e., posters, slideshows, etc., for presentations of projects/research.
- Maintaining data files in accordance with ethical guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
