Flowstar Industrial is an Atlantic Canadian supplier and service provider specializing in pumps, valves, instrumentation, and process equipment. We support customers across the municipal water and wastewater, mining, pulp and paper, food and beverage, oil and gas, and general industrial markets.
We are looking for a mechanically inclined Field Service Technician to join our team in Truro, Nova Scotia.
Position Overview
The Field Service Technician will perform installation, inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair work on pumps, valves, instrumentation, and related process equipment.
This position will include regular travel throughout the Maritimes to customer facilities, as well as shop-based repair and service work at our Truro location.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys hands-on work, and is comfortable working independently in a variety of industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, instrumentation, and related process equipment.
- Perform equipment installations, removals, commissioning, and start-up assistance.
- Complete preventative maintenance and emergency repair work at customer locations.
- Disassemble, assess, repair, rebuild, and test equipment in the Truro service shop.
- Identify equipment issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options.
- Accurately document service activities, equipment condition, parts used, and work completed.
- Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal team members.
- Follow all company and customer health and safety requirements.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition.
- Travel regularly throughout the Maritimes, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications
- Mechanical, industrial, or technical experience is preferred.
- Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Mechanical Technician, or similar education or certification would be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
- Experience working with pumps, valves, rotating equipment, instrumentation, or industrial process equipment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable working in industrial, municipal, and construction environments.
- Valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and handle equipment and components associated with industrial service work.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Maritimes.
Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
