Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, primarily excavators, to assist in various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy machinery, safety protocols, and efficient operation to ensure project success and safety on-site.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment such as skid steers, and trenchers.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading, and material handling tasks.
- Utilize horizontal drilling equipment as needed for specific project requirements.
- Coordinate with team members to execute construction plans effectively.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support other construction activities requiring mechanical knowledge or heavy equipment operation.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage.
- A clean driving record abstract required.
Skills
- Proven experience operating excavators.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate Caterpillar machinery and familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques.
- Experience in construction environments with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Knowledge of commercial driving regulations for transporting equipment or materials if required.
- Ability to work with precision in complex excavation or grading tasks.
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment safety protocols and operational best practices.
