Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting store operations, managing staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily activities, assisting with sales strategies, and maintaining a positive shopping experience for customers.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Supervise and motivate team members to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new staff members
- Manage payroll processing, scheduling, and training & development initiatives
- Oversee merchandising, pricing strategies, and inventory management to optimize sales
- Handle cash handling, cashiering, POS transactions, and bookkeeping tasks accurately
- Implement marketing campaigns and promotional activities to increase store traffic and sales
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety standards, and store procedures
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly to maintain high satisfaction levels
- Support budgeting efforts and monitor store expenses to meet financial objectives
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to team members for continuous improvement
Requirements
- Proven supervisory or team management experience in retail or related fields
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, and basic math skills
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for effective communication with diverse customers and staff
- Experience with recruiting, training & development, and payroll processing preferred
- Knowledge of merchandising, pricing strategies, sales management, and marketing techniques
- Ability to handle administrative tasks such as bookkeeping, budgeting, and inventory control
- Exceptional customer service skills with phone etiquette and conflict resolution experience
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
