Job Overview
A new Pharmacy is Calgary, Alberta is seeking a licensed pharmacist to serve as the pharmacy's Licensee (Pharmacist Manager / Pharmacist-in-Charge). This is a foundational hire and the successful candidate will lead the pharmacy on day-to-day clinical and operational leadership once open.
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications with precision, adhering to medical orders and legal regulations
- Provide comprehensive patient care by offering medication counseling, answering questions, and advising on proper medication use
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to review prescriptions, clarify instructions, and ensure safe medication administration
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing, patient interactions, and inventory management
- Monitor for potential drug interactions or contraindications, especially in pediatric and acute care cases
- Educate patients about medication side effects, storage, and adherence strategies to promote health and safety
- Stay current with medical terminology, pharmaceutical updates, and regulatory compliance standards to uphold high-quality care
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant licensing authorities
- Proven hospital experience with a focus on acute care environments
- Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding their unique medication needs
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration protocols
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient care in fast-paced clinical settings
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
