Position summaryThe Nuclear Medicine Research Department is seeking a Medical Technologist for research-related diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The successful candidate will perform specialized imaging and radioisotope handling for clinical trials, ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols.
The incumbent, reporting to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Farzad Abbaspour), will support clinical research by preparing and administering radiolabeled substances, performing diagnostic imaging, and ensuring compliance with Health Canada regulations. The role involves working with patients in oncologic and/or neurodegenerative studies, operating SPECT/CT and PET/CT cameras, maintaining radioactive inventory, and assisting in training. The technologist plays a key role in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient execution of research protocols.

General Duties
Patient Preparation & Interaction – Receiving patients, providing instructions, and registering them when required. Preparing patients for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures per research protocols.
- Radioisotope Preparation & Administration – Preparing, handling, and administering radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with safety regulations. Performing quality control tests, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring proper storage and disposal.
- Imaging & Quality Assurance – Performing SPECT/CT and PET/CT procedures. Conducting regular quality control checks on equipment and reporting issues.
- Safety & Compliance – Practicing sterile techniques and universal precautions, ensuring adherence to regulatory, institutional, and protocol requirements.
- Data & Documentation – Recording and processing study data, maintaining accurate documentation for research integrity and compliance.
- Training & Collaboration – Assisting in training professional and student technologists and working collaboratively with the research team.
- Other Duties – Performing additional tasks to support clinical trial and departmental operations.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual (French and English), spoken and written,
- Able to work independently while accepting feedback,
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail,
- Strong teamwork skills in a research setting.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of oral and written French is required.
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
Additional information
Status : Temporary occasional
Pay Scale: $25.01 to $46.42$/hour Commensurate with education and work experience.
Work Shift: Variable
