Overview of Position:
The HR/H&S Administrator ensures the administrative function of the Human Resources department is handled in a professional and efficient manner while interacting directly with Management, Supervision and Employees
Responsibilities:
Human Resources
- Coordinate and participate in recruiting activities, ie. Preparing internal/external job ads, prescreening applicants, arranging interviews and conducting reference checks
- Schedule orientations for new hires, book meeting rooms and send orientation invites to internal department staff
- Provide back up to reception – daily lunches & absences
- Assist with projects, reports, presentations and hand-outs, as required
- Assist with planning of company events, such as: Employee Appreciation Day
- Design/track recruitment methods ie timing, successes, turnover
- Work with Plant Managers/Supervisors to develop/revise positions descriptions as required
- Revise/create HR policies, procedures and handbook as required
- Assist in the set up and maintenance of the training matrix for all training programs
- Assist with arranging and tracking of external H&S training
- Administer the new employee orientation, benefits and disability programs
Health and Safety
- Attend safety meetings, prepare minutes and distribute
- Follow up on status of open preventative/corrective actions
- Arrange, schedule, and track internal and external employee training
- Assist with the set-up and maintenance of the training matrix for all training programs
- Assist with employee health and safety orientation
- Ensure Contractor Compliance – paperwork and monitoring activities on site
- Recommend and prepare material for Toolbox Talks
- Maintain SDS compliance
- Comply with H&S management program to future job postings.
Experience:
- Completion of post-secondary diploma in administration, human resources or health and safety management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably within a manufacturing Human Resources or Health and Safety department
- Knowledge of utilizing social media platforms for recruitment purposes
- Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, coordination and priority setting skills
- Possess a high degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
- Proficient in MS Office applications
