We are currently seeking an Embedded Systems Developer to work out of our office in Guelph, Ontario.

Our fluid conveyance offering ranges from end user hose replacements right through to full hydraulic conveyance kitting for some of North America’s largest OEMs. We also offer full hydraulic system servicing, both on site and in our shop. Our engineering department can help with the smallest of requests right up to designing and building large power units. Our drive to sell and service the best brands in the world has established our relationship with Hetronic Radio Remotes, by being Hetronic Canada, our clients can now lean on the UMI Group for support in radio remotes and electrical controls.
The Embedded Systems Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining advanced programming for mobile and industrial equipment. As such, the individual will be required to analyze, program, debug and commission said programs. The programmer will also take part in component selection, machine planning and design.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software to control new and existing mobile and industrial systems.
- Program and maintain HMI displays for machines and on radio remotes
- Analyze, code, simulate, test, maintain, and document programmable logic control systems.
- Detail electrical and logical schematics, detail models and drawings for wiring harnesses.
- Support mechanical designers with sound expertise in control systems.
- Create and test prototype systems, troubleshoot issues from manufacturing and assembly.
- Analyzing data from tests conducted by other engineers to ensure that designs meet industry standards for safety and efficiency.
- Integrate sensors and transducers into new and existing machines.
- Assist with development of hydraulic and mechanical systems that will be electronically controlled.
- Consulting with clients to determine project requirements and scope of work.
- Contact and interact with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to investigate new technologies and their applications
- Aiding with the setup of project budgets and timelines.
- Running tests or troubleshooting issues with prototypes.
- Conducting studies of existing controls projects to assess their efficiency or safety risks.
- All other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics is preferred)
- Prior work experience in electrical or mechatronic engineering is considered an asset
- Experience with CODESYS, QT, HGP, J1939, CANOpen, DeviceNet, Profinet, PROFIBUS and other similar programming software.
- Prior experience with code revision and software development life cycles.
- Great hands-on technical ability and mechanical aptitude
- Experience with both AC & DC applications including schematics electrical and control methods.
- Experience with fluid dynamics including schematics and system design.
- Experience with mobile equipment, diesel powered systems would be considered an asset
- PID loop programming and tuning
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment.
- Well versed in the Canadian Electrical Code, with a focus on Industrial practices
- Able to travel as needed to commission and/or troubleshoot onsite.
