The AML Story
We've come a long way. AML has 52 years of experience designing and building oceanographic instrumentation and we have clocked consistent year-on-year growth of greater than 15%. We have customers on all seven continents. We have a 70+ person team of employees that care deeply about customer outcomes. In our market, we are known for two things: 1) Going to the ends of the earth to make our customers successful; and 2) Bringing fresh ideas to an established market.
Earlier this year, we were acquired by Union Park Capital. Our mission? To drive the success of Union Park's marine technology thesis. AML is the operating foundation of that thesis, and our focus is on growing the core business while carefully extending our solution set via acquisition. We anticipate dramatic growth and significant change in the next 3 to 5 years.
How we Operate
At AML, we do things a bit differently. Think daily huddles. Think Rockefeller Habits, Scaling Up, and the One Page Plan. Think town hall meetings with on-the-fly Q&A sessions. If you are familiar with these concepts - or they are of interest to you - then you might be a fit for AML. We want people who want to commit their hands, their heads, and their hearts to their position. You see this commitment in our employee Glass Door rating: an impressive 4.70 on 5.00.
What you inherit
Established Salesforce and Epicor instances with ongoing enhancement work. Clear expectations around consolidating to a single SF instance and integrating multiple ERPs across acquired entities. Active PE-backed M&A cadence with new acquisitions arriving roughly every 6-12 months. A VP of Systems & Standards to partner with and clear Leadership Team support for the standardization mandate.
Your Mission
Simplify. Slay complexity. One Salesforce instance across all of AML — fast. A plan for ERP consolidation. You ARE the simplified systems backbone that makes everyone else faster.
What You'll be Accountable For
- Owns Single Salesforce Instance Across AML: Are all AML entities on the single AML Salesforce instance?
- Owns Multi-ERP Administration & Consolidation: Are all ERPs running AND are we moving toward a single ERP?
- Owns SF ↔ ERP Integration Integrity: Are Salesforce and ERPs talking cleanly?
- Owns Application Support: Are users getting timely help when they're stuck?
- Owns Application Training & Adoption: Are people able to use the systems without personal support?
- Owns License Optimization: Are we spending appropriately on application licenses?
Some Other Daily Duties
- User provisioning, profiles, page layouts, custom objects, workflows, reports, and dashboards across AML's single Salesforce instance.
- Configuration, monthly close support, user access, module setup, custom screens, reporting.
- When AML acquires, manages acquired-company ERP (Epicor or other) until consolidation. Hands-on troubleshooting + integration.
- Designs and maintains data flows between SF and every ERP in use. API maintenance, middleware (if any), reconciliation rules.
- Single source of truth for SF + ERP customizations, workflows, integrations. Updated within 30 days of changes.
- Onboards new AML hires + acquired employees onto SF and Epicor. Builds and delivers role-specific training.
- Application-level troubleshooting (vs. Tier 1 IT support owned by IT Admin). Escalation handoff to vendor support when needed.
- Quarterly audits of SF and ERP license utilization. Identifies underused seats; recommends reclaim or downgrade.
- Hands-on for VP of S&S's Acquisition Platform Migration Process. Builds the technical migration plan for each acquired company; executes the SF migration within 120 days.
Your Skills & Competencies
- Salesforce Platform Expertise: Deep knowledge of Salesforce admin internals — workflows, objects, profiles, integration patterns. Cert-ready or certified.
- ERP Systems Fluency (multiple, learnable): Epicor (or equivalent) fluency today; learning agility for new ERPs as AML acquires.
- Integration Architecture Sense: Architectural intuition for SF↔ERP data flow. Awareness of master data and drift points.
- Documentation Discipline: Tolerance for the unglamorous work of writing things down. Foresight about future cost.
- Technical-to-User Translation: Explanatory clarity. Translation fluency between technical capability and the user's working language.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Relational reliability across functions. Trust built on follow-through, not technical skill alone.
- Curiosity-Driven Self-Learning: Learning agility with intrinsic motivation. Reads release notes for fun.
- Attention to Detail / Data Integrity Discipline: Precision in detail. Early-warning sensibility for small misalignments before they compound.
