Our client, a mid-size multi-service firm in the heart of downtown Toronto, is in search of a Family Law Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to join their team.
About the Role
- Coordinate client meetings, court appearances, mediations, and other legal meetings while managing lawyers' calendars and critical deadlines.
- Draft, edit, and proofread legal correspondence and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
- Prepare, organize, and file a variety of family law documents, including court records, motion materials, and financial disclosure briefs.
- Review and organize financial disclosure materials.
- Maintain and organize electronic client files, ensuring all documentation is current, accurate, and easily accessible.
- Monitor limitation periods and key dates through effective calendar and tickler system management.
- Assist with general administrative and accounting functions to support the daily operations of a busy family law practice.
The Offer
The firm offers a competitive compensation package of $60-65K, benefits, a generous vacation allotment and a remote hybrid working environment.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience supporting a busy Family Law practice within a law firm.
- Completion of a Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk diploma.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Family Law procedures, including experience preparing court documents and managing financial disclosure.
- Proficiency with legal and office technology, including Microsoft 365, DivorceMate, Adobe/Nuance PDF, Case Center, and other family law software.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented professional with exceptional communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while providing outstanding client service.
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
