The Al-Mustafa school is an independent Islamic elementary school located in Surrey, BC. The school opened in September of 2021 with the goal of providing elementary school education that is deeply rooted in Islamic thought and heritage. It is currently located in a beautiful facility that is nestled within the natural environment of Joe Brown park. The school provides families and teachers with the opportunity to be a part of a warm and spiritual community at Al-Mustafa.
We are considering expanding to offer KG to Grade 9 classes for the 2026-2027 school year, and are seeking qualified applicants for 1 part-time elementary and middle school Qur’an teacher position starting in late August of 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
We are inviting applications from caring individuals who are sensitive to the needs of children and who desire to be part of an enthusiastic team. The role of the Quran Teacher will be based on the school’s educational philosophy of Taleem and Tarbiyah - to teach and instruct. The position focuses on instructing and nurturing students in accordance with the intellectual, spiritual, and moral tradition of Islam according to the Holy Qur’an and the Progeny of the Holy Prophet (S).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver the Holy Qur’an curriculum covering recitation, memorization, and Qur’an appreciation.
- Teach Qur’an recitation with correct pronunciation and basic tajweed to elementary and middle school students.
- Introduce students to selected Qur’anic verses, their meanings, and their relevance to everyday life.
- Encourage and mentor students in memorizing and understanding the Qur’an through consistent practice and Islamic role modeling.
- Design unit and lesson plans aligned with the BC curriculum, ensuring a structured and age-appropriate learning experience.
- Acquire and develop engaging resources and tools to enhance students’ learning of the Qur’an.
Qualifications and Requirements :
- BC Teachers Certification.
- Proficiency in Qur’an recitation with strong knowledge of tajweed rules.
- Sound understanding of the Qur’an and Islamic sciences.
- Experience in teaching Qur’an to children, with a clear grasp of effective teaching strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and connect with young learners.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
