Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser CNC & Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and brake press machines, along with proficiency in CNC programming and mechanical knowledge. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining precision machinery to produce high-quality components in a fast-paced environment. Candidates with strong blueprint reading skills, basic math abilities, and experience with welding and assembly are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
- Load, operate, and monitor CNC laser table
- Use hand tools, calipers, and measuring devices for quality inspection and verification of parts
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety protocols
- Identify and communicate any machine faults, material issues, or quality concerns and report to lead hand
- Verify part counts, material grades, and dimensions against job requirements
- Handle raw material and finished parts safely, using forklifts, vacuum lifters, cranes, and assorted lifting attachments
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a CNC laser cutting machine (fiber or CO₂)
- Experience with press brake operation and reading bend drawings/flat patterns
- Valid forklift operator certification preferred, forklift experience is mandatory
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, part prints, and material specs in both Imperial and metric
- Physically fit and comfortable performing general shop helper duties as part of the daily role
- Familiarity with nesting software an asset (e.g., Metalix, Lantek, ProNest, SigmaNest)
- Experience with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
- Basic computer skills for reviewing job documentation
- Prior experience in a fabrication or structural steel shop
