Lead Hand / Senior Renovator - Interior Residential Renovations
You're an experienced residential renovator who can frame a wall in the morning, install flooring in the afternoon, troubleshoot unexpected issues without waiting for instructions, and leave a jobsite better than you found it. You care about the finished product because your name is attached to it, and you're not satisfied until the job is done right.
You're looking for steady, full-time work with a small but growing company that values quality over shortcuts, trusts your judgment, and gives you the opportunity to take ownership of the projects you work on.
This is a hands-on position, and you'll be expected to work on the tools every day.
If that sounds like you, we'd like to talk.
Little Leaf Interiors is a Calgary-based residential renovation company specializing in basement developments, legal suites, bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, and interior renovation projects. We take pride in delivering high-quality work, maintaining strong relationships with our clients, and building a team of people who genuinely care about craftsmanship.
As our Lead Hand / Senior Renovator, you'll often be the senior person on site, responsible for keeping projects moving forward, coordinating with the owner, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, directing helpers when needed, solving problems as they arise, and ensuring every project meets our quality standards and deadlines.
This isn't a position where you'll be managing a large crew every day. Some days you'll work independently, while other days you'll have one or two helpers or coordinate alongside subcontractors. We're looking for someone who is confident working with minimal supervision, takes pride in their work, and enjoys the responsibility that comes with leading a project.
As Little Leaf continues to grow, this role has the opportunity to grow with it. We're looking for someone who wants to become a key part of the company for the long term—not someone who's simply looking for their next job.
We're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with a company that's committed to doing quality work the right way.
What You'll Be Doing
No two renovation projects are exactly alike, but your responsibilities will typically include:
- Taking ownership of residential renovation projects from start to finish while maintaining a safe, organized, and professional jobsite.
- Completing a wide variety of renovation tasks including framing, insulation, drywall repairs and boarding (where required), flooring, doors, trim, cabinetry, painting, fixture installation, and general finishing work.
- Reading and interpreting plans, layouts, and project scopes to ensure work is completed accurately.
- Coordinating day-to-day activities with the owner, homeowners, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Providing direction and mentorship to Renovation Assistants or junior team members when working together on site.
- Identifying problems early, communicating solutions, and keeping projects moving efficiently.
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship while ensuring projects stay on schedule.
- Picking up and transporting tools or materials when required using your own truck or van.
- Representing Little Leaf Interiors professionally in clients' homes by maintaining a respectful attitude, clean workspace, and excellent communication.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and can confidently lead projects with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is dependable, solutions-focused, and genuinely enjoys residential renovations.
You'll be a great fit if you have:
- Several years of hands-on experience in residential renovations, carpentry, or general contracting.
- Confidence completing a wide variety of renovation tasks to a high standard with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt when projects don't go exactly as planned.
- The confidence to communicate professionally with homeowners, subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
- Experience reading plans, layouts, and construction drawings.
- The ability to organize your work, prioritize tasks, and keep projects moving efficiently.
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in producing quality workmanship.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Your own reliable truck or van capable of transporting tools and building materials when required.
- Your own hand and power tools.
Bonus Qualifications
While not required, the following experience would be considered strong assets:
- Basement developments and legal suites.
- Bathroom and kitchen renovations.
- Flooring, cabinetry, and finish carpentry.
- Basic plumbing or electrical knowledge
- Experience supervising assistants, labourers, or small renovation crews.
This role probably isn't for you if:
- You need constant supervision or direction to stay productive.
- You cut corners to save time.
- You struggle communicating with clients or working in occupied homes.
- You don't take ownership of your work or your mistakes.
What We Offer
We're building a company that people are proud to work for. That means creating an environment where quality work is appreciated, good communication is expected, and every team member is trusted to take ownership of their role.
When you join Little Leaf Interiors, you can expect:
- Full-time, year-round employment.
- Hourly wage: $28 - $38/hour depending on experience.
- A wide variety of residential renovation projects that keep the work interesting and rewarding.
- A small, supportive team where your experience and ideas are valued.
- The opportunity to work independently while having the support you need when challenges arise.
- Direct communication with the owner—no unnecessary layers of management or corporate bureaucracy.
- Opportunities to grow with the company as we continue to expand.
- A company culture built on accountability, craftsmanship, professionalism, and respect.
If you're looking for a place where your work matters, your experience is trusted, and your contributions help shape a growing company, we'd love to hear from you.
