As a Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our projects. This is an onsite position based at our Balzac office, where you’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams in a dynamic, hands‑on environment.
What You’ll Be Doing – and Why It Matters:
Your design expertise will drive projects from concept through execution, shaping both the creative direction and final outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with others throughout the process, with opportunities to share knowledge and support the growth of fellow designers as part of a strong, continuously evolving design practice.
Your Impact Will Include:
- Coordinate the development of engineering design deliverables, including 3D solid models, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, and bills of materials.
- Provide hands‑on shop support by investigating root causes, resolving fabrication and assembly issues, and ensuring design intent is met.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable quality standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
What Your First Year Looks Like:
First 90 Days: Contribute to existing projects under the guidance of experienced team members and cultivate strong working relationships across departments.
6 Months: Design multiple projects with a focus on quality and technical excellence. Support the development of junior designers while contributing innovative solutions that drive business growth and strengthen industry reputation.
What you Bring:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent industry experience)
- 3+ years of hands‑on SolidWorks experience, including large assembly management.
- Proven experience designing mechanical and structural components, including skids, supports, pressure vessels, and piping spools.
- Solid understanding of welding processes and procedures and their application in fabrication environments.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ASME B31.3 and ASME Section VIII, Division 1.
- 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD 2D to produce Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to support documentation, communication, and coordination.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Ability to work successfully in a fast‑paced, schedule‑driven environment with competing priorities.
