Position Summary
The RECE Program Support team member plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the childcare centre. This position provides classroom support, administrative assistance, kitchen coordination, and general operational support. The successful candidate will be flexible, organized, and committed to maintaining a high-quality learning environment for children, families, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Provide classroom coverage as required to maintain staffing ratios and support program continuity.
- Cover educator documentation and planning time.
- Assist educators with implementing developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
- Support positive interactions and relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and centre policies.
Administrative Support
- Assist the Centre Director with administrative and office-related tasks.
- Support record keeping, filing, data entry, and preparation of centre communications.
- Help organize and maintain program materials and documentation.
Kitchen Coordination
- Maintain kitchen operations and organization.
- Coordinate kitchen staffing schedules and coverage as required.
- Prepare and manage weekly and monthly menus in accordance with nutrition guidelines.
- Order and maintain inventory of groceries and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor food storage, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Prepare and serve infant and toddler lunches as needed.
Inventory and Supply Management
- Monitor inventory levels throughout the centre.
- Order cleaning supplies and other operational materials.
- Ensure classrooms, kitchen, and storage areas are adequately stocked and organized.
End-of-Day Centre Support
- Assist with afternoon and closing responsibilities.
- Complete laundry duties, including washing, folding, and distributing linens and classroom materials.
- Wash and sanitize snack dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Support daily cleaning and sanitization of classrooms, common areas, and centre facilities.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic childcare environment.
- Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) requirements and best practices.

Reports To: Centre Director
Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience.
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
