The Right Fit:
The Accounts Payable Specialist reports to the Controller and works closely with accounting, operations, procurement, and project teams. This role is responsible for supporting high-volume accounts payable and procurement processes across multiple business units, with a particular focus on land development operations.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, thrives in a technology-driven workplace, and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records and vendor relationships.
This position offers exposure to large-scale development projects, ongoing process improvement initiatives, and opportunities to expand responsibilities over time.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Process high volumes of vendor invoices while ensuring accurate coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Manage payment processing and coordinate approvals in accordance with company procedures
- Support procurement activities, including purchase orders, vendor accounts, contracts, and utility accounts
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, purchase orders, and supplier accounts
- Reconcile vendor statements and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate vendor records, insurance documentation, and account information
- Support the implementation and optimization of accounts payable technology and systems
- Provide administrative and accounting support to operations and project teams as required
What You Bring to the Table:
- 2+ years of accounts payable or accounting support experience
- Experience working with procurement processes, purchase orders, and vendor management
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Reflex, SAP Concur, or similar systems is considered an asset
- Experience in land development, construction, real estate, or project-based environments is preferred
