The Mechanical Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and overhauls on a wide variety of stationary and mobile equipment owned and operated by the Town of Marathon. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to ensure municipal equipment and assets are maintained in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
This position is encompassed by C.U.P.E. Local 87. This position is also open to all Town of Marathon employees, and internal applications will be processed according to the applicable collective agreement.
Qualifications:
· Minimum Grade 12 education and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the mechanical maintenance field.
· Valid Truck & Coach Technician and Automotive Service Technician licences. A Heavy Equipment Technician licence would be considered an asset.
· Experience maintaining heavy equipment, municipal fleet vehicles, snow removal equipment, and/or diesel engines would be considered an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to perform welding and brazing repairs.
· Valid Standard First Aid Certificate.
· Valid Class “DZ” Driver’s Licence.
· Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
· Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
· Must provide a Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Employer.
Rate of pay: $39.20-$41.61 per hour (2025 rate)
