Job Summary
The role of the Transportation Coordinator - Seasonal is pivotal in managing the logistics of shipping and transportation. Key responsibilities include coordinating shipments, building relationships with carriers, negotiating rates, and maintaining a database of providers during our peak season (September - March).
Duties and Responsibilities
The Transportation Coordinator (Seasonal) has the following key responsibilities:
- Book inbound and outbound shipments in a high-volume office with multi-location shipping points
- Forge effective relationships with carriers to move shipments to customers
- Effectively negotiate rates and service requirements
- Research and maintain a comprehensive data base of transportation providers
- Identify opportunities for cost savings in rates to create a competitive advantage
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in logistics and transportation
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian and US carriers, the transportation corridors and highway infrastructure including basic laws of trucking and border crossing
- Strong knowledge of North American geography
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent negotiating skills
- Must be able to work flexible hours during our peak season (September to March)

The expected hourly rate for this position is $20-28. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, or location. This position is for an existing vacancy.
