JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Vendor Management Specialist.
Reporting to the Senior Manager IT Services, this position is responsible to manage the IT vendor lifecycle by coordinating engagement, performance tracking, issue resolution, audits, renewals, and sourcing support, while ensuring vendor accountability for cost, delivery, SLA, quality, risk, and compliance outcomes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Coordinate vendor engagement activities across procurement, legal, IT service teams, and other internal stakeholders to support effective vendor onboarding, ongoing management, and offboarding in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Track, review, and report on vendor performance against contractual obligations, SLAs, KPIs, and service expectations, maintaining accurate dashboards, documentation, and records to support visibility and compliance.
- Facilitate timely resolution of vendor-related issues by coordinating between vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring appropriate escalation, follow-up, and communication until issues are resolved.
- Support vendor assessments, audits, and contract renewal activities by gathering relevant information, reviewing vendor performance and compliance data, and contributing to renewal recommendations and decision-making processes.
- Contribute to IT sourcing strategies, operational planning, and budgeting by analyzing vendor spend, usage trends, and business needs, while identifying and supporting process improvements that enhance vendor lifecycle management.
- Manage IT vendor relationships where cost overruns, SLA breaches, delivery delays, or compliance gaps may have material business impact, ensuring risks are identified, escalated, and addressed in a timely manner.
- Support audits, risk mitigation initiatives, and compliance reviews related to third-party IT vendors, including preparing evidence, coordinating responses, and following up on remediation actions.
- Hold IT vendors accountable for code quality, technical debt, defects, and rework in partnership with IT delivery, architecture, cyber security, and other relevant teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-Year university education in Business, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Over 6 years experience in vendor management, contract administration, IT operations, or sourcing is required.
- Experience managing IT vendor relationships across the full vendor lifecycle, including engagement, onboarding, performance management, issue resolution, renewals, and offboarding.
- Knowledge of vendor performance management practices, including tracking SLAs, KPIs, contractual obligations, delivery performance, and service quality.
- Experience supporting audits, risk mitigation activities, compliance reviews, evidence preparation, and remediation follow-up related to third-party vendors.
- Ability to analyze vendor spend, usage trends, business needs, and performance data to support sourcing strategies, operational planning, and budgeting.
- Experience working cross-functionally with procurement, legal, finance, IT delivery, architecture, cyber security, and business stakeholders.
- Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and issue-resolution skills, with the ability to escalate risks and hold vendors accountable for outcomes.
- Experience using ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management, Software Asset Management, and Vendor Management processes, including tracking records, workflows, approvals, renewals, performance metrics, and compliance evidence.
