Oil sands development is an important component of CNOOC International’s global portfolio. In Canada, CNOOC Petroleum North America has interest in more than 300,000 acres in the Athabasca region – one of the largest deposits of Canadian oil reserves, where we use technologically advanced production processes such as Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD). Our Long Lake facility, located in northern Alberta just south of Fort McMurray, began producing in 2008 and is a SAGD-only operation for the interim, with production capacity of around 72,000 barrels of bitumen a day.
This position is an 12 months contractor role in Fort McMurray, Alberta; the successful candidate will be onboarded through a third party contracting agency.
- Bachelor or Masters' degree in Engineering and eligible for professional registration with APEGA (Chemical engineering preferred)
- 1-2 years of process engineering site experience (including Co-op program) in SAGO and/or refinery/upgrader A combination of operations and EPC environment would be acceptable
- Previous experience in Inlet treating, de-oiling, water treatment, steam generation, or upgrading will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge with process simulations and associated tools .Working experience with process simulation tools preferred (i. Aspen HYSYS, AFT Fathom, etc.).
- Working knowledge of all relevant codes, and standards such as API, ASME, NFPA
- Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail programs, document control and drawing management systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, AutoCad)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Responsible for daily process monitoring and optimization
- Collaborate withIha operations team on process adjustments to optimize plant equipment operations
- Responsible for providing crucial support for construction and engineering Their main role is to inspect the equipment, facilities and any other aspect of an engineering project to ensure that it has been designed and installed correctly. Also, provide engineering and technical support to projects to ensure that it is completed within regulation within the budget
- Develop and maintain proactive monitoring tools of the units to predict and support long-term plans
- Maintain a focused approach in resolving various operational issues/bottlenecks for the reliable operation of the facility as wall as ramp up
- Conduct incident investigations and ensure findings are well documented and well communicated
- Ensure design and project implementation conform with design intent, specifications and standard practices
- Maintain the integrity of the facility PSI i Lead/participate in PSM activities (MOC, PHA/HAZOP, PSSR etc.)
- Develop/Review process simulations (HYSYS and other process simulators) and heat/material
- Ensure that process engineering deliverables are met in a timely fashion (SAGO and/or Upgrader)
