Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized mental health nursing care within a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, assisted living facilities, and community health environments. This role requires a strong foundation in patient care, medication administration, and case management, with an emphasis on supporting individuals with mental health needs across different age groups, including pediatrics and seniors. The Registered Psychiatric Nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring safety and comfort for all patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mental health status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Administer medications accurately, including pain management and psychiatric treatments
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as needed
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options
- Document patient progress using electronic health records systems such as Epic and Cerner
- Assist with therapeutic activities and coordinate case management services to promote recovery and well-being
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols, especially when working with vulnerable populations such as children or seniors with dementia or dementia-related conditions
- Perform phlebotomy, laboratory procedures, and other diagnostic tasks as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, hospital settings, or home care environments to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Support nursing staff in pain management, medication administration, and patient care activities across various healthcare settings
Experience
- Proven experience working in hospital or acute care settings preferred
- Experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health facilities highly desirable
- Background in pediatrics, senior care, dementia care, or assisted living environments is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and medical office operations is beneficial
- Prior experience with Epic or Cerner electronic health records systems is a plus
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and case management practices is essential
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, or patients requiring home care services enhances suitability for this role
