Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Designer to join our creative and highly technical team to design and develop new products for the automotive industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, utilize cutting-edge design tools, and contribute to impactful projects in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Actively communicate with customers to design plastic or die cast parts as per their specifications.
- Liaise with customers and provide technical leadership and guidance to aid them in all aspects of the product design.
- Be the project technical lead and use engineering analysis and skills to problem solve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Ensure product designs not only satisfy customer needs but are also optimized for manufacturing to avoid any excessive tooling, capital and/or labour costs. (i.e. rework)
- Create DFM CAD for tool builds.
- Read and understand customer Statement of Requirements and specifications and use this knowledge and understanding to perform CAE analysis and Validation Testing. In addition, write the corresponding technical reports and submit them to the customers.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
- Must be fluent in CATIA or NX Design software.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be analytical and possess good problem-solving skills.
- Must have a strong sense of urgency and be an excellent time manager.
- Knowledge of automotive products and DFM for injection moulding are assets for this position.
- Experience in plastic injection molding, design of functional assemblies, product validation testing, and knowledge of GD&T, are also all assets for this position.
Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
