Position Summary
Pro Cut Lumber is looking for a Forestry Project Manager to oversee the coordination, administration, planning, and overall success for our tenures, BC timber sales, and log trading projects around Vancouver Island and Coastal BC.
Working directly with senior management, this position is ideal for a person who enjoys taking the initiative, shows excellent listening skills, and working together as a team to ensure success.
Position is full-time, approx. 50% field work, 50% in office
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Requirements, Forestry Legislation, while showing leadership in safety and generally upholding the highest safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with business and community partners for our shared success.
- Managing and completing all activities associated with logging operations such as planning, permitting, overseeing cruising, logging subcontractors, stumpage & waste, silviculture, and budgeting, while taking ownership of the financial performance for your operations.
- Seek new business opportunities including log trading and logging. Looking to create maximum value while creating and maintaining long lasting business relationships.
- Prepares reports and written documentation of work results. Presents analysis results to clients and/or company executive. Provides recommendations to the executive and clients regarding policy development, resource allocation decisions and stewardship issues.
- Working in a team environment, responding to changes in market conditions by developing tactical action plans that address target customers, markets, and company needs.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF or RFT)
- Demonstrated record in ensuring and fostering a safe work environment for yourself and your teams
- 5+ years’ experience in log sales and marketing
- Experience managing projects and/or contracts related to silviculture, harvesting, and road building.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence
- Ability and willingness to travel around Vancouver Island
- Ability to work in collaborative, team-based environments
- Knowledge of applicable BC forestry and related legislation and policies
- Ability to meet the physical demands of forestry fieldwork, which includes working on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions, both independently and as part of a team.
Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
