We are seeking a hands-on Cold Storage Warehouse Manager to lead daily warehouse and cold storage activities in a fast-paced seafood processing environment. This role is heavily focused on on-the-floor execution, ensuring product is handled, stored, and moved safely, accurately, and efficiently in cold conditions.
You will spend the majority of your time in the warehouse, directly supervising operations, managing inventory physically, and ensuring strict adherence to temperature control and food safety standards.
This is a leadership role for someone who leads by example, works alongside their team, and takes full ownership of warehouse execution and accuracy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cold Storage & Warehouse Operations (Primary Focus)
- Oversee all day-to-day warehouse activities on the floor, including receiving, put-away, picking, and loading.
- Manage all cold storage areas including blast freezers, chilled storage, and finished goods coolers.
- Enforce correct product stacking, labelling, and rotation (FIFO/FEFO) through active floor supervision.
- Monitor and verify temperature controls and logs in real time.
- Perform routine walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance.
- Immediately correct handling issues, safety risks, or product integrity concerns.
- Coordinate with maintenance for quick resolution of refrigeration or equipment issues.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory through physical verification and regular cycle counts.
- Actively investigate discrepancies by checking product on the floor, not just in the system.
- Track product locations, movements, and status (hold, release, damaged, etc.).
- Ensure all products are properly labelled and traceable at all times.
- Support physical inventory counts and ensure warehouse accuracy.
Receiving & Shipping
- Supervise and assist with unloading and verification of incoming product (species, weights, temperatures, condition).
- Ensure proper documentation is completed accurately at time of receiving/shipping.
- Oversee order picking and loading to ensure correct product, quantities, and handling.
- Work closely with team members to keep shipments moving efficiently and on schedule.
Production Planning Support
- Work closely with the Production Manager to support weekly production planning.
- Ensure production schedules reflect actual inventory availability and storage capacity.
- Identify supply gaps or logistics constraints that may impact the production plan -and bring solutions, not just problems.
- Track daily production yield and escalate material variances to the Plant Manager.
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and work alongside warehouse staff during daily operations.
- Assign tasks and adjust priorities in real time based on workload.
- Train staff on proper handling, safety, and cold storage procedures.
- Enforce safe work practices, including forklift operation and PPE use.
- Build a culture of accountability, urgency, and teamwork.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards through daily enforcement.
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse conditions at all times.
- Support inspections by demonstrating strong operational control on the floor.
- Ensure full traceability of all products through proper handling and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required
- 3+ years of experience in cold storage, warehouse, or logistics management.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Strong inventory management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or inventory management systems.
- Ability to work in cold environments (0°C to −30°C).
- Forklift certification.
- Diploma or degree in Logistics Management, Food Processing, or Business Management.
Preferred
- Experience in seafood or fish processing operations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or production scheduling tools.
- Bilingual (English/French/Vietnamese/Punjabi/etc.).
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
