Pollock's Hardware Co-op has served Winnipeg's North End since 1922. In 2008, the community re-opened the store as a co-operative, returning it to local ownership and deepening its roots as a neighbourhood institution. For over 100 years, Pollock's has provided residents with a wide range of hardware and household items, and remains committed to community engagement and making a meaningful difference where we work and live.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Sales Associate greets and assists customers with their hardware needs. This role supports the day-to-day operations of the store, including ordering, stocking, and pricing merchandise, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, and providing knowledgeable service across all product areas. Sales Associates also assist customers with paint selection and mixing, key cutting, basic repairs, and rental items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service
■ Greet customers upon arrival and thank them when leaving.
■ Assist customers in locating products and finding solutions to their hardware needs.
■ Maintain strong product knowledge and familiarity with store layout.
■ Assist customers with paint selection and mixing, key cutting, basic repairs, and rental items.
■ Answer phone calls and messages promptly and courteously.
■ Refer customer complaints or questions that cannot be resolved to the Store Manager.
Store Operations
■ Contribute to a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
■ Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking merchandise throughout the store.
■ Assist with monitoring and maintaining in-store and online inventory levels.
■ Assist with daily maintenance and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor areas.
■ Maintain an orderly sales floor, including end caps and display windows.
■ Operate the till and handle cash transactions accurately.
■ Carry out store opening and closing duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
■ Prior retail, customer service, or hardware experience is an asset.
■ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
■ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
■ Basic math skills and comfort handling cash.
■ Genuine interest in the co-operative model and community development.
■ Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
