The Opportunity
As a Merit Recruitment Consultant, you’ll operate as an independent contractor under the Merit Recruitment Studios umbrella.
Your business. Your specialty. Your relationships. Your way of working.
You’ll have the freedom to focus on the industries, markets, clients, and candidates where you have the strongest expertise and network.
Your role can include:
- Developing your own client pipeline and book of business
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Building long-term relationships with hiring leaders and organizations
- Managing full-cycle recruitment processes
- Sourcing and identifying qualified candidates
- Screening resumes and conducting interviews
- Assessing capability, character, culture, and long-term fit
- Presenting qualified candidate shortlists to clients
- Advising clients on hiring strategy, role design, market conditions, and talent availability
- Guiding candidates through the recruitment process with transparency and meaningful communication
- Conducting market research and talent mapping
- Maintaining accurate recruitment and client records
- Collaborating with other Merit recruiters where opportunities and expertise overlap
- Building a reputation and business you can be proud of
Who We're Looking For
We're interested in qualified and vetted recruiters from all industries and specialties.
You may be an experienced agency recruiter, executive search consultant, corporate recruiter looking to become independent, or an established recruiter looking for a better platform to grow your business.
We're particularly interested in people who have:
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting and full-cycle hiring
- Strong consulting and talent acquisition skills
- Experience advising clients on hiring needs and strategies
- Excellent interviewing and candidate assessment abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to build genuine, trust-based relationships
- Experience in agency, boutique, executive, or specialized recruitment
- Familiarity with applicant tracking and recruitment systems
- Knowledge of Canadian employment practices is an asset
- A proven track record of relationship-driven placements
- The ability to manage multiple searches while maintaining a high standard of service
- Strong judgment, confidentiality, organization, and professionalism
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field is an asset
- Professional recruitment or HR certification is an asset
