Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Sommelier Server to join our dynamic hospitality team. In this role, you will combine your passion for fine wines with exceptional customer service skills to enhance our guests’ dining experience. As a key ambassador for our wine program, you will guide guests through wine selections, recommend pairings, and ensure a memorable dining journey. Your expertise in food and beverage service, along with your ability to upsell and educate, will elevate the overall atmosphere of our establishment. Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and present the wine menu with enthusiasm, providing detailed descriptions of selections.
- Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals, utilizing your knowledge of menu planning and culinary pairings.
- Serve wine and beverages efficiently while maintaining proper food handling and safety standards.
- Upsell premium wines and related products to enhance guest satisfaction and increase sales.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine station, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff on meal preparation, catering, banquet events, and special menus to ensure seamless service.
- Handle POS transactions accurately using Aloha POS or Micros POS systems, including cash handling and cashiering duties.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing guest inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Assist in training new team members on serving techniques, food safety protocols, and POS operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in restaurant service, fine dining environments, or food industry roles such as catering or banquet service.
- Strong knowledge of wine varieties, food pairing principles, and menu planning strategies.
- Proficiency with POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS; experience with cash handling is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, energetic attitude that fosters guest loyalty.
- Ability to upsell effectively while maintaining a genuine desire to enhance guest experiences.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, serving regulations, and proper food handling procedures.
- Previous experience in culinary settings or meal preparation is a plus; catering or banquet experience is highly desirable.
