Registered Practical Nurse (Part-time)

Brantwood Community Services is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our collaborative, diverse and dynamic team. You will play an integral role in developing, monitoring, and delivering professional health care to people supported. Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Practical Nursing Program from a recognized educational institution
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid Emergency Heart Saver CPR
- Current NVCI certification (training to be provided by Brantwood)
- Must have a valid class G driver license and access to a reliable vehicle
What you will do in this position:
- Ensure the daily health care needs of people supported by assessing, planning, evaluating, and recommending an optimal health care plan, where interventions can be managed autonomously within the nursing scope of practice and according to Physician’s orders
- Provide health updates on people supported to the staff team and families
- Provide mentoring, monitoring, and training to staff by working as part of the team to; enhance the knowledge of staff in early detection of illness; provide health related information to staff that is evidence based; identify training needs of staff to the supervisor; provide training that is within the nursing scope of practice and monitor the effectiveness of training; assist with orientation and guidance of staff, volunteers, and students as per the direction of the supervisor, encouraging a supportive and cooperative team
- Assist the supervisor with infection control practices
- Utilize effective, positive verbal and written communication skills
- This position requires local travel.
