Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at RITCHIE PHARMACY in Edmonton AB Canada. A Pharmacy Licensee in Alberta is responsible for the overall management, supervision, regulatory compliance, and professional practice of the pharmacy, while also providing direct patient care and leading the pharmacy team to meet professional and legal standards. This role is vital in ensuring safe medication practices and providing expert advice to our patients, aligning with our commitment to health and well-being.
Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with the Alberta College of Pharmacy standards, the Pharmacy and Drug Act, regulations, and the Code of Ethics.
- Maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, records, and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure controlled substances, narcotics, and medications are managed according to legal requirements.
2. Management, Control, and Supervision
- Personally manage, control, and supervise the pharmacy's operations and professional practice.
- Ensure adequate staffing and pharmacist coverage.
- Ensure a pharmacist is present whenever pharmacy services or restricted activities are provided.
- Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, assistants, and other staff members.
3. Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, coach, and support pharmacy team members.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure staff practice according to standards and competency requirements.
4. Patient Care
- Provide clinical pharmacy services such as:
- Medication reviews
- Prescribing within scope
- Immunizations
- Chronic disease management
- Patient counselling
- Ensure patient-centred care and quality service delivery.
5. Operational Oversight
- Monitor workflow, inventory management, and dispensing processes.
- Implement quality and safety initiatives.
- Address incidents, complaints, and risk management issues.
- Ensure a safe work environment for staff and patients.
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently while adhering to legal and safety standards.
- Provide expert consultation on medication management and usage.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Educate patients about medication therapies and potential side effects.
- Maintain meticulous records of prescriptions and patient interactions.
- Monitor patient responses to medications and report adverse effects.
- Stay updated on the latest pharmaceutical developments and regulations.
Qualifications
- Registered pharmacist in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
- Valid Alberta practice permit.
- Authorization to prescribe in Alberta.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- 1–3+ years of community/retail pharmacy experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with pharmacy operations, compliance, and clinical services.

Pay: $60.00-$65.00 per hour
