Northern Strands is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Junior IT Coordinator, whose primary responsibility is providing frontline technical support for the Group of Companies. This role focuses on assisting users, troubleshooting technical issues, updating systems, and supporting the daily operation of IT services. The Junior IT Coordinator helps maintain the reliability of end-user technology and ensures timely resolution of support requests. At times, overtime and working outside of regular business hours may be required in order conduct necessary system maintenance with limited interruption to daily business operations. What You’ll Be Doing
- Day-to-Day IT Operations Support Responsibilities
- Act as first point of contact for all technical support requests
- Assist employees in resolving technical issues including but not limited to network connections, printing issues, and drive access
- Ensure proper functionality and user support for technical devices such as computers, cellphones, and other related devices
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues within established timeframes
- Coordinate the installation and configuration of software applications including but not limited to Adobe Acrobat Pro, Global Shop, and Microsoft 365
- Set up new employee accounts, assigning them to the correct security groups and applying the appropriate permissions for their role
- Escalate complex issues to the System Administrator, who will collaborate on resolution and involve our third-party support provider when required
- Ensure timely updates and clear communication within the IT ticketing system
- Asset Management
- Conduct continual review and management of computer assets assigned to employees
- Identify employees requiring hardware or software upgrades
- Re-purpose previously used equipment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in our inventory system
- Ensure proper recycling and disposal of obsolete equipment
- Install and configure new end-user hardware, including desktops, laptops, monitors, and other related components
- Track and manage renewal and expiration dates for software licenses
- Technical Project Support & Coordination
- Provide technical assistance on projects including but not limited to e-commerce platforms, test beds, and knowledge base systems
- Coordinate technical projects and related activities with external vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements and timelines
- Deliver ongoing technical support throughout project lifecycles as required
- On-Site & Non-Standard IT Requests
- Travel to other designated NSGC locations to deliver technical assistance on-site as needed
- Respond to critical IT service calls during non-standard working hours to provide prompt technical support for business continuity
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree or recognized certification in Computer Sciences, similar field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
- Minimum one (1) year of work experience in a technical support role
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Valid Driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to learn new applications through training courses or self-directed study
- Strong technical aptitude
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
- Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
- Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
