The Opportunity
WADE is looking for a Junior to Intermediate Structural Designer and Technologist to join our growing team in Edmonton. Key Responsibilities
- Perform production drafting and design using Revit software to create detailed design drawings and structural models for a range of projects, including new construction and rehabilitation projects.
- Prepare and assist with plans, drawings, contracts, and technical specifications.
- Conduct reviews of project documentation including drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
- Maintain CAD/BIM file organization and document archives.
- Prepare drawing packages for client submissions.
- Perform QA/QC on your own work to ensure accuracy.
- Support design engineers during field work such as site inspections and condition assessments.
- Perform site duties as required.
- Assist in investigating and developing practical technical solutions for design or on‑site issues.
Education and Skills
- Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT) or recognized equivalent, or a combination of training and experience within a Civil/Structural design role
- 3-7 years in the engineering consulting industry, with a strong foundation in structural design and construction practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Revit with a strong understanding of structural drawing creation and project documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD with a strong understanding of structural drawing creation and project documentation is an asset.
- Familiarity with municipal, provincial, and industry engineering standards, as well as experience in building foundations, concrete structures, and various framing types (steel, concrete, and wood).
- Construction knowledge of commercial, industrial and residential buildings is an asset
- Experience in Building Envelope Rehabilitation projects is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, coupled with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, ensuring clear and concise contract documentation and project delivery.
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Hard worker, ready to assume responsibility quickly and have fun at the same time.
