Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Scheduler to join our manufacturing team. The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure customer orders are completed on time while maximizing production efficiency and optimizing the use of labor, materials, and equipment.
This role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Sales, and Shipping to ensure production schedules align with customer demand and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Schedule manufacturing work orders based on customer orders, production capacity, material availability, and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changing priorities, equipment downtime, or material shortages.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors to maximize efficiency and machine utilization.
- Communicate production priorities and schedule changes across departments.
- Track work order progress and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Analyze production capacity, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate scheduling data within the ERP/MRP system.
- Monitor inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess inventory.
- Prepare reports on production performance, schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and capacity scheduling.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and production planning tools.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning is an asset.
