HVAC Service Technician – Residential (Heat Pumps & AC) – Montréal
About the role
We are looking for an experienced HVAC service technician based in Montréal to service residential customers’ heating and cooling systems, with a strong focus on heat pumps, air conditioning and heating equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair residential heat pumps, central and wall-mounted air conditioning systems, furnaces and other heating equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, seasonal tune-ups and emergency service calls on residential HVAC systems.
- Install or assist with the installation of heat pumps, air conditioning units and related ductwork or piping when required.
- Explain findings and recommended repairs to homeowners in clear, professional language and provide excellent customer service on every visit.
- Complete accurate service reports, including parts used, work performed and recommendations for future work.
- Follow all safety procedures and applicable codes and regulations in Quebec for refrigeration and HVAC work.
Required qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as an HVAC / refrigeration technician or similar role, with a focus on residential service (houses, condos, small multi-residential)
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing heat pumps, air conditioning systems and residential heating equipment (furnaces, electric heaters, etc.)
- Comfortable working directly in customers’ homes and managing multiple service calls per day.
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently and maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Fluency in French; basic English is an asset given the Montréal market.
Assets (nice to have)
- Experience installing complete residential HVAC systems (heat pumps, ducted/ductless systems, furnaces, controls).
- DEP in refrigeration/HVAC (DEP en réfrigération) and CCQ refrigeration mechanic card (frigoriste) or equivalent.
- Gas certification (TAG 1 or equivalent) if you service gas furnaces/boilers.
- Experience with mini-split systems and high-efficiency heat pump technology used in Quebec’s residential market.
Schedule and compensation
- Full-time, permanent position, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call or overtime during peak seasons.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience, plus overtime and benefits (to be customized by you based on your pay structure and market rates in Quebec).
