Reports to: Store Manager
Status: Day Shift (Part-Time)
Hours: Monday-Saturday (8:30am-4:30pm)
The starting hourly pay rate for the role is $18.03.
Purpose:
Reporting to the Store Manager, the scope of this position involves providing customer service in a retail setting and assisting with the daily operations and profitability according to set goals and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Store Manager to ensure that the Retail Store goals and objectives are met.
- Provide excellent customer service and support.
- Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally and according to Company and Quality Control guidelines.
- Ensure products and merchandise are presented neatly, priced correctly, and shelves are adequately stocked.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels and meeting special customer requests.
- Ensure that all H&S, GMP’s, security regulations and government regulations (as set by the Public Health Unit) are adhered to and required standards are met.
- Handle cash, including counting floats, providing change and refunds, and end-of-day cash balancing and required paperwork.
- Prepare food for employees and customers (including cooking breakfast and lunch orders, etc.) following Safe Food Handling guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Retail Store by following the cleaning schedule as provided by the Store Manager.
- Provide relief coverage for other store staff.
- Prepare specialty baskets.
- Work closely with Member Relations and Distribution to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery/pick-up of Member Relation orders and complete required paperwork.
- Assist Store Manager with purchasing of giftware.
- Decorate store as required.
- Maintain and control Staff Tabs.
- Attend prescribed courses/training.
- Lift and handle the milk load once a week as part of weekly deliveries.
- Work 16 hours per week with a Saturday shift required 1 to 2 times a month. Additional hours may be available during holiday periods or busy seasons.
- During the Christmas season, weekly hours may increase to 25+ hours.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of retail store experience is considered an asset but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, and the ability to work as a team.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle cash and make change.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task.
- Must be punctual and diligent.
- Physically capable of performing demands of the job, including lifting up to 20 kg.
- Flexible to cover various shifts, vacation, or illness as required.
Working Environment:
Extended interruptions. Occasional exposure to sharp objects (knives) and multiple deadlines. Business travel to Retail Gift Shows twice per year.
Physical Demands:
Extended amount of time walking and standing. Considerable crouching, stretching, reaching, and lifting up to 20kg. Moderate pushing and step ladder climbing required.
Lifting involved once a week with the milk load.
