A well-established Canadian retailer is expanding its assortment under a refreshed and modernized brand identity. With additional locations planned for launch in the coming months, the company is entering an exciting phase of growth and is seeking an experienced Buyer - Toys, to help shape its evolving product strategy. This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded buyer who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building assortments that connect with customers across multiple categories. You will be responsible for developing a strong, profitable product assortment and managing all aspects of vendor relationships and category performance. The ideal candidate combines a strong sense of trend with disciplined financial management and the ability to execute plans from concept to floor.

Description
- Develop and manage a compelling toys and collectibles assortment that aligns with brand strategy, customer demand, and financial objectives.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and brand partners; negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities.
- Analyze sales performance, margins, and inventory levels to optimize category profitability.
- Identify new opportunities within seasonal and core product lines to drive growth and customer engagement.
- Create and manage open-to-buy plans, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely product flow.
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and visual teams to ensure successful product launches and in-store presentations.
- Stay current on toy industry trends, retail market dynamics, competitive activity, and evolving customer preferences to identify opportunities and drive category growth.
- Participate in trade shows and buying markets as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive buying or merchandising experience in toys.
- Proven success in managing category performance and vendor relationships.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with accountability for P&L and inventory management.
- Self-starter with strong decision-making ability and excellent organizational skills.
- Collaborative communicator who works effectively in a fast-paced, evolving retail environment.
- Flexible, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for retail and product innovation.
