Position Overview
Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for the installation, alignment, and assembly of underground piping systems, including sanitary sewers, storm drainage and water mains. This role involves preparing work areas, ensuring trench readiness, and supporting the safe and accurate placement of pipe infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and guide trench activities to ensure pipe installation meets specified line and grade requirements using level, lasers, and other surveying tools.
- Accurately position and align pipes in preparation for joining methods such as welding, cementing, or adhesive sealing.
- Monitor and support backfilling operations to ensure proper bedding and structural integrity of installed piping.
- Provide general support to the Foreman and crew as needed.
- Install, maintain, and repair underground piping systems, including sanitary and storm infrastructure.
- Follow and actively promote all company health and safety policies, fostering a strong safety culture across the worksite.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in Water and Sewer construction
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in pipelaying is required
- Ability to work in trenches and outdoor environments in various weather conditions
- Knowledge of safe work procedures, including trench safety
- Relevant tickets are considered an asset:
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Confined Space
- First Aid
- Ability to work long hours, overtime, and weekends as required
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
