Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Rock Truck Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy-duty rock trucks in various construction environments, ensuring efficient material transportation and supporting project timelines. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, including familiarity with Caterpillar machinery and related construction tools. Candidates should possess mechanical knowledge and experience with multiple types of heavy equipment to perform their duties effectively.
Duties
- Operate rock trucks to transport materials across construction sites, adhering to safety protocols and operational standards
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials using equipment such as loaders, excavators, backhoes, and graders
- Conduct pre-operation inspections on heavy machinery to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Support other construction activities including paving, horizontal drilling, and site grading as needed
- Maintain accurate logs of materials transported and equipment usage
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks and auxiliary equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure longevity
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate operations efficiently and meet project deadlines
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as Caterpillar loaders, excavators, graders, backhoes, and dozers
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor issues and performing basic maintenance on equipment
- Commercial driving experience with a valid license suitable for operating large trucks in construction environments
- Familiarity with horizontal drilling, paving, and other specialized construction techniques is a plus
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation in construction sites
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
