St. Clair College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides and maintains a clean, safe, healthy environment for students, staff and the general public. Performs duties related to equipment, garbage and scrap sorting and disposal, cleaning, housekeeping, grounds maintenance, moves, setups, and special events operations requiring manual and physical effort. Performs minor repairs to buildings and grounds using standard hand tools. Using campus or rented vehicles, makes deliveries and picks up supplies from other campuses and hardware stores. Assist with College events.
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
General Maintenance Assistance: 60%
- Assisting Skilled Trades with various tasks
- Assisting with HVAC filter changes, power washing etc.
- Room inspections – cork boards, chairs, and desk checks and maintenance, clock verifications/batteries, ceiling tiles, light bulbs
- Mechanical room inspections
- Minor repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds equipment
- Affixing items to walls
- Replacement of ceiling tiles
- Minor paint touch ups
- Desk disassembly/ re-assembly
- Vehicle maintenance/gas up/oil changes/inspections/motorcycle/automotive gas tank fill up
- Battery changes on bathroom fixtures
- Participates as a member of facilities emergency response team
General Delivery and Event Set up Assistance: 15%
- Office/furniture moves/relocations
- Special events setups and deliveries (ex. convocation)
- Equipment/items moves/deliveries between college campuses as well as to/from external customers
- Organization and sorting of facilities storage rooms
General Waste Assistance: 15%
- Collection of E waste, pallets, biohazardous waste containers, confidential bins, scrap metal, etc.
- Working with hazardous waste contractor, bring to waste locations.
- Minor sorting and disposes scrap metal of campus.
- Assisting grounds crew to pick up and remove large scrap equipment, etc.
Mailroom: 5%
- Perform back up duties for the mailroom and receiving operations.
- Assist at loading dock with lift truck duties and using lifting devices as required.
Other Duties as Required: 5%
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A 2-year post-secondary diploma, in a related field or equivalent.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience
- Ability to follow small layout drawings instructions, and verbal and written instructions
- Ability to lift 40+lbs (garbage, furniture, equipment, scrap metal)
ANALYSIS & PROBLEM SOLVING
- Perform minor repair of building, equipment and maintenance of grounds including, but not limited to, leaks above broken, damaged or stained ceiling tiles, spill of excess garbage/scrap
PLANNING/COORDINATING
- Completing routine inspections/routes pm tasks
- Furniture moves, filter moves to locations, help with route guidance
- Notification of event set-up requirements
